New Schedule + New Studio!

I'd like to start by thanking everyone for the kind words, emails, and hugs of support after the announcement that I will be closing Bow Street Yoga. I hope to get to connect with many of you at Bow Street over the last few weeks at the studio - I have posted my remaining schedule on my website for folks to check out. This includes the last afternoon retreat at the studio this Sunday from 1:30-5:30pm!

I am also thrilled to begin my next chapter at Down Under School of Yoga this week - beginning with my 10:30am class at the Porter Square Location! This includes a full schedule of drop-in classes - at Brookline and Cambridge - as well as time reserved for bodywork/massage, individual teaching and mentorship every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  I know that this is only the beginning of what I can offer once I can devote my focus fully to practice and teaching.

Group Classes:

In the past week since announcing this transition, I have already felt a shift. Being able to step out of the ownership role feels both terrifying and liberating at the same time.  In this transition, I am also taking inventory of what I am practicing as well as what I am choosing to teach. Fundamentally my practice involves meditation, reflection, embodiment through asana, and prayer** - yes, I said prayer and I'll unpack that further in another post. As many of you know these practices continue to be influenced primarily by  Barbara Benagh, Tom Alden and Buddhist practice. Learning how to present this in a group asana class has always been an exciting, challenging endeavor. In this new chapter I hope for it to become more of an evolving dialogue between myself, colleagues, and students. One that I am delighted to be more present for - without worrying about whether there is enough toilet paper in the studio bathroom :-). As always, I invite your feedback, suggestions and concerns I as continue to learn and grow as a practitioner, teacher and human.

**These are referred to as the four fundamentals by my teacher Tom Alden

I invite you to try out a class at Down Under! These classes above are free, but will fill up fast, so preregistration is recommended!

 1-on-1: Bodywork + Yoga

As many of you know I completed my massage license this past year and I am thrilled to be able to open my practice this Thursday Dec 5th at Down Under 's Wellness Center in Brookline. While I will be offering typical massage services, my hope is to work with folks in a way that combines manual therapy, yogaasana, education and support. This model has benefited me not only in my work with my current teacher Tom Alden, but has been echoed throughout my yoga and meditation practice with numerous teachers and bodyworkers. I will continue to work with students monthly/weekly  both in person and online, but also welcome folks to book online and drop in whenever they'd like support.

If you are interested in setting up an monthly meeting shoot me an email here. Otherwise head over to the bodywork page and book a session today!

Just the beginning…

Many have asked about the workshops and retreats that I have led at bow for the past few years. I am thrilled to have the support from DU to not only continue this programming but also development new programs to support folks in practice!

New programming around meditation, self-practice , anatomy, yoga therapy and more are in the works! Moreover, my dear friend and colleague Fez Aswat - who will be joining me at DU in the new year with his own schedule of offerings- will be collaborating on a weekly master class as well as the continuation of our in-studio retreats.

I also hope that once the logistics of transition settle that I’ll be able to continue to offer online resources including more episodes of Unrolled Podcast.

As always, feel free to reach out at ryan@ryanyoga.com to ask questions, voice concerns or just simple to say hi!
